A vacuum drum filter press consists of a rotating drum enclosed
within a slurry-holding sump. As the drum turns through the slurry,
vacuum suction draws the liquid and suspended solids onto the
drum’s pre-coated filter medium.
The liquid is pulled through the filter medium by vacuum, gathered
inside the drum, and then expelled. The solid cake adhering to the
drum’s outer surface is transported to a scraping unit, where it is
stripped off along with a thin layer of the filter
medium—uncovering a fresh filtering surface for the next cycle as
the drum keeps rotating.
